29%
Process Overview
To begin:
- If you haven’t already, book an introduction meeting with the Candidate Support Team on the RPC website
Following the introduction, the first few tasks as an RPC-endorsed candidate include:
- Provide the name, picture, personal statement, and contact details you want listed on the RPC website
- Join the RPC Discord server and provide your handle to get access to candidate-only chat channels
- Attend the recurring candidate meetings when you’re able
- Connect with registered RPC volunteers in your electoral district
- Reach out to your personal networks to bolster your team
When the next election is called (sometime between 2026 and 2029):
- Appoint your Official Agent
- Collect 100* wet-ink consent form signatures from eligible electors (aka voters) in your chosen electoral district
- Return your nomination package to the Returns Officer for your electoral district
* Some rural and remote electoral districts require only 50 signatures.
The process for RPC candidates is typically as follows:
- Start your candidate application by booking an introduction meeting.
- Win the nomination contest for your chosen electoral district OR choose an uncontested electoral district.
- Appoint your Official Agent OR request help finding an Official Agent.
- Collect 100 (or 50) wet-ink signatures from eligible electors in your chosen electoral district.
- Complete the RPC candidate vetting process.
- Complete and submit the necessary candidate paperwork to Elections Canada.
- Start your campaign!
